Paula Portella

Paula Portella

In the hands of Paula Portella, painting transcends the canvas and is also transmuted into musical notes. The young artist, who has a hand in the visual arts and is also a singer, is gaining prominence in the Arts scene.

Paula Portella is among the 30 outstanding contemporary Brazilian artists, according to "The Art Book Brazil", published in Miami, in 2015, during Art Basel. The artist is alongside other prestigious names associated with Democrart such as Alemão, Antonio Peticov, DALMAU and Maramgoni.

Fascinated from an early age by the great divas of black music, the artist developed the "Black Power Divas" series. A set of vibrant and expressive canvases that merge the soul of singers such as Ella Fitzgerald, Etta James, Billie Holiday, Aretha Franklin and Nina Simone into an almost psychedelic universe.

Paula Portella's work is already desired internationally, joining private collections in New York and Barcelona. The artist, in partnership with Miriam De Los Angeles, participated in the exhibition "Sonhos Possíveis", organized by Democrart, in partnership with Swarovski.
