Rio de Janeiro is part of the DNA of Geo Barroso, stage name of Georgia Souza. The unparalleled beauty of the wonderful city is something that fascinates the Brazilian photographer
A lawyer by training, Geo Barroso was born and has always lived in Niterói. He found in photography a “new opportunity” to show his view of the world. An admirer of Sebastião Salgado's work and story, the photographer literally lives the images she captures, letting herself be carried away by the emotion of the moment and seeking to convey what she felt through something “practically unprecedented”.
The series “Por Behind the Neblina” was born from a proposal for overcoming by Geo Barroso. In order to overcome one of her fears, the Brazilian photographer climbed the 360 meter altitude of Mirante Dona Marta, in Rio de Janeiro, during the early hours of the morning. The challenge resulted in this magnificent portrait of the Marvelous City.
Geo Barroso, 36 years old, in addition to being a photographer and lawyer, has a postgraduate degree in the Oil and Gas sector, and collaborates as a photographer with the NGO "Corrente pelo Bem", a project to combat poverty in needy communities in Rio de Janeiro.
